Ain't No Mountain

Shirt, TJ Maxx. Skirt, altered vintage. Shoes, Rack Room???

Although I make a point of making as many pastel purchases as possible, something about acid bright shades of yellow and green really speaks to me. Lately I haven't been able to get past the shade of lime green on my skirt. My guy friend told me that I "was clashing in his eyes", but sometimes those outfits are the most fun. Whether it is a compliment or a snide remark, something about a lime green, pleated tennis skirt gets a lot of attention. The shirt is another favorite, I definitely think it will be in heavy rotation this summer along with the other several boxy, sheer shirts I have been hoarding lately.

Opportunity Comes Knocking

Sometimes being literal can be more powerful than riddling your audience with hidden meanings. When I was assigned the task of shooting the theme "Doors" for a photography competition, I decided to literally do a study on the fascinating architecture of various types of doors. Although I was inclined to focus on older types of doors (I'm inclined to focus on older things in general, actually), I really like how the set turned out. These six are my favorite out of the fifteen that I had to put together. After the struggle with the theme, I am really excited for how they turned out and plan on including some of them in my real portfolio.
What are your favorite subjects to photograph?

With the Violets

Tie dye top and tulle skirt, F21. Necklace, Simply Vera via Kohl's. Shoes, Candie's via Kohl's. Tote, Madewell via Atlanta.
Even if I don't like my outfit every day (and fail to take pictures because of it...I'm a notorious project starter, not so much a finisher...*cough*Operation Overhaul *cough*), days like today make up for it. Although I woke up at 5:30 this morning and was at school at about the time I usually wake up, I managed to put together one of my favorite looks in a long time.
This shirt was hiding from me, but once I found it, I knew I had to wear it. The slouchy pocket, the exposed zipper on the back, the perfect tie dye...this shirt is one of my all time favorites for sure. I just grabbed items in a similar color palette and ran with it.
Maybe I should get dressed in less than five minutes more often!
